MV Logos Hope - A Floating Library

I went to Pier 15 today to take a look at the MV Logos Hope before they leave Manila. The Logos Hope community consists of 400 unpaid volunteers from over 45 countries and they help around bring knowledge and hope to people from all walks of life. They are also the world's largest book fair which usually visit ports for a two week period and is continually sailing all over the globe.

There's a small priced entrance fee of Php 20 which will include a short intro about their organization from the crew and a brochure of what you will experience.

Inside there are friendly crew members who will assist you and whom you can talk to about anything! So many foreigners inside, saw people from Mexico, USA, India, Netherlands etc offcourse there are Filipinos! You'll be surprised some of the crew knew basic Filipino language!

An illustrated history of GBA Ships!

Nautical bell and crew member photos. Milestones.

After the short intro you can proceed to the book fair. 1Unit is equal to Php 1.00. Unit is equivalent to money here probably because they'll be having a hard time converting the prices of books to various currencies! So I bought a cook book (Baking Recipes as I'll be buying an oven! Yes don't be surprise if I want to learn how to bake.) worth 400 units and a pocket dictionary for only 50 units. Great deal right? :) Hey I wanted to donate too so I bought these books.

Saturday jammed pack of people buying books.
All sorts of books.
Not just books. There are cds too. Mostly christian music.
After the book fair, there's some kind of exhibit (I guess?) with a story. Like a picture book. I didn't pay much attention and just passed through. The kids will definitely be eyeing though. Just a normal biblical kind of story I suppose with life lessons. Here are some photos.

Err the girl here is some random stranger.
Typical Christian story.
Then there's the International Cafe which btw only serves popcorn, sodas, ice cream cones and hotdogs. Not much choices but you can connect with crew members and mingle with them to hear their unique culture and life experience. And off course they would love to hear your story too. :p

Didn't get a chance to grab a bite.
I got a free book on my way out too. I guess that's it! MV Logos Hope will be Manila bound until March 13 and will be heading off Subic Bay next.
